Here are some tips for you on how to do after Christmas detox and get an amazing bikini body ready. Read more of Peter Minkoff’s advice here.

Christmas time is a wonderful time of the year, filled with joy, family bonding and awesome food. Although this holiday is behind us, the guilt of enjoying all that food a bit too much is catching up with us, as we are trying to zip up our favorite pair of skinny jeans.

Skinny jeans are one thing, but what happens when the time comes to get in our swimsuits? Then we will really see the consequences of pork chops and chocolate cake. If you don’t want to end up in such a situation, now is the right time to start working on getting your summer body back. It can be a great New Year’s resolution. Let us try to help you with that.

Get Rid of Bad Habits (Baby Steps)

All those fad diets that demand you to starve yourself to a skinny body and get to the desired weight in a matter of days aren’t healthy or efficient, and when they are they don’t provide you with long-lasting results. You need to start minimizing bad habits slowly. If you usually drink two cups of coffee per day, reduce it to one every second day, and drink green tea instead.

If you suddenly completely stop drinking it, you might end up with side-effects like nausea, headache, migraines, etc. Also, reduce the alcohol intake (holiday season is over). Minimize or even better eliminate processed foods and up the water intake.

Introduce Good Food

This is something you should do during the very first week of your detox program. The first thing you must include are fresh vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cabbage, sweet potato, asparagus, etc.). Continue with fruits (apples, strawberries, passionfruit, pineapple, blueberries..), sprouts, unsalted or raw nuts, gluten-free grains (e.g. brown rice and quinoa), legumes (lentils, chickpeas), protein (eggs, fish, chicken, lamb, turkey) and soy. As for the beverages, stick to water, herbal teas and almond milk.

Have a Meal Plan

Week two of your detox program should have a clearly defined meal plan, which will include 5 meals: breakfast, snack x2, lunch and dinner. You should prepare meals with all the healthy ingredients you’ve started introducing in your diet the week before. Here is how a typical day of the second week of detox should look like:

● Breakfast: Cooked quinoa with flaked almonds, blueberries, pumpkin seeds and a cup of almond milk.
● Snack: Seasonal fruit and a cup of tea.
● Lunch: Grilled lamb with vegetable salad.
● Snack: Hummus with vegetables and tea.
● Dinner: Sweet potato mash with grilled salmon.

You’re Almost There

It’s week three, and the final countdown to your bikini body is set. By now you have probably experienced some of the negative symptoms of toxins leaving your body, but hold on just a little bit longer. If you need extra motivation just think about the amazing Baku Swimwear and their new swimsuit collection, or even better, the fact that the old models are now on sale.

Ready to continue? Sure you are. Don’t forget to drink a lot of water all the way through the detox program and work out regularly. Here is how a typical week 3 detox day should look like:

● Breakfast: Vegetable omelet.
● Snack: Mixed raw nuts and tea.
● Lunch: Quinoa and black bean salad.
● Snack: Pear and almond salad.
● Dinner: Grilled chicken and vegetables.

Extra Tips

Week two can be extra exhausting since you’ll be feeling the toxins leaving your body and you’ll experience side-effects like stomach cramps, muscle and joint pain, tiredness, etc. They are very common and mild, but can be very annoying. Some things that can help you get through it are cinnamon tea, roasted dandelion root, frozen grapes and baked sweet potato chips. Smoothies and cold pressed juices are also recommended.

You see, summer bodies are built during winter. If you start now, not only will those skinny jeans zip up nicely, but you will look drop-dead-gorgeous in that new bikini.

What are your Christmas detox tips? What do you do to motivate yourself?
